Finals' Day

Top performing schools from regional and international rounds will be invited to participate in our Finals Day.
​
This consists of 4 rounds of short-prep debates. The top 8 teams after these rounds shall then progress to the Semifinals and then Finals. There shall also be a Novice Final, for teams that are in their first year of competitive debating and have never broken before in a competition. We are also offering this year an ESL Final, which will run concurrently with the Novice Final, for those speakers for whom English is a second language.

We are also so pleased to announce that this year we shall be awarding the Edward Tomlinson Memorial Prize to the best speaker at Finals' Day. More information can be found here.

The Oxford Schools’ Debating Competition is kindly run with the support of Cherwell College Oxford, who provides the venue and rooms necessary to develop the public speaking skills of the next generation. Without them, Oxford Schools’ Finals Day would not be possible, and the Oxford Union is very grateful for their support.
